Today morning I was driving through Necklace road. I started wondering why is it so difficult for us to keep smiling. Why is that we keep thinking about what we do not have and don’t care about what we have. I lost my job recently, and I am worried about it. At the same time my family is supporting me in this tough time and I just don’t care about them.
While driving with these thoughts I saw a lady sitting on bench all alone. With an expression less face she stared at the water. She was lost in her thoughts. I wondered what could be her problems in life. Then thought to myself that it would be inappropriate to ask a stranger about their personal life, at the same time would it be wrong if I just had a casual chat with her. I parked my car and started walking towards her. The walk seemed to be endless. Thoughts running through my head on what do I talk? Am I acting crazy? Should I go back? How would she react? But then something told me that I had to talk to her and I kept walking.
Once next to the bench I asked her if I could sit there and she nodded her head with a smile. The smile on her face made me realize that it not difficult to make people smile. We were silent for quite some time staring at the water. Then I spoke. I told her how looking at the waves makes me dizzy. Her immediate reply was “why do you look at it if you feel dizzy?” and I replied that I like getting dizzy. She laughed at my reply. Then our talk turned into a conversation. I found out that her name was Rajeshwari and I asked her if I could call her Raji aunty and she nodded with a smile. After 20 mins we said bye to each other with a smile and contacts shared.
The walk back to the car again looked endless but with a feeling of satisfaction that today I made someone smile.
It hardly took a minute to make her smile but it took a lot of courage for me to start that minute.
Its quite easy to smile, all you need is someone to spend that one minute with you.
Its very easy to lead a happy life, very difficult to find someone who would make you happy.
If everyone starts taking the pain of making someone, some stranger, smile – just one person a day, wouldn’t the world be such a beautiful place. That one minute of smile that lingers on your face for hours given to you by some stranger. Wouldn’t that be just amazing?
This is just my thoughts……… the pain to make someone smile everyday is all yours.
Amazing very nice bro. :)
ReplyDeleteIt made me smile n think about it. If we practice it with dedication then it would make lot of difference in everyone's life not just our life.
You wrote in a wonderful manner good job!!!
It is really nice Tarun... For a minute, just made me think as to how many people smiled because of me passing by and making them do so... Even if it was just for a minute or two, but it did make them forget their worries and smile...
ReplyDeleteAmazing Tarun!! Your blog itself brought me a smile....Yeah very true!! It gives us so much of satisfaction when u make someone smile!!
ReplyDeleteTarun,I salute your thought of doing what you did there, this is our culture and its seldom seen in concrete jungle.
ReplyDeleteYo Yo Yo, Hmmmmmm , thats my bro.. He always makes me smile ... U made my day!
ReplyDeleteHey Tarun.. Keep up the gud work...Bro! Its very hard to make someone else smile specially at a time when u r in pain.
ReplyDeleteHere I am…
ReplyDeleteLet me first congratulate u for starting a blog and writing a WONDERFUL FIRST POST. Wish and hope u will continue posting …. ‘tumhe likhne ka nasha chad jaye :)’
Secondly….TELL ME... ‘Raji aunty se phir baat kiya kya?? ;)’….I am not kidding haan!!
Now let me come to the topic; when I read your post, I thought this is ‘typical Tarun thinking!!’ What I mean is thinking ‘hat ke’. Otherwise who else will think of approaching an unknown person (that too a lady!!) and having a ‘casual talk?’ I am, as always, amazed at that ABILITY of yours.
It’s very easy to KEEP SMILING compared to MAKE OTHERS SMILE!! And it’s still more difficult to MAKE A STRANGER SMILE!!! We all know this and actually don’t put any effort (or take any pain) in bringing that small speck of joy in others.
Its quite easy to smile, all you need is someone to spend that one minute with you. Its very easy to lead a happy life, very difficult to find someone who would make you happy. Well….those are your words…I totally agree on that. Tell me how can we find that person who will make us happy and how can we assure that the person ‘stays’ with us?
We can do only one thing positive; if someone finds us ‘happy to be with’ we can make sure that person stays happy!!
SMILE BANK ki JAI HO!!!
